§01 — OVERVIEW
Kodschul is a leading German EdTech and professional training platform that empowers businesses, developers, and professionals to master state-of-the-art IT skills, Artificial Intelligence, and digital transformation. Delivering premium, hands-on seminars trusted by top-tier institutions and global leaders—including the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), Mercedes-Benz, the Federal Police (Polizei), and Siemens—the platform bridges the gap between theory and real-world execution. Built on an advanced Next.js core integrated with Payload CMS, the platform serves thousands of learners across Europe, offering scalable, real-time dynamic course paths, robust multi-language localization, and highly targeted search discoverability.
§02 — CHALLENGE

Infrastructure Scaling & High Availability

During major educational campaigns and enterprise training rollouts, the platform experienced sudden traffic spikes. It required a highly resilient, modern cloud infrastructure that guarantees 99.9% uptime, automated scale-out, and continuous zero-downtime deployment pipelines.

Vast Dynamic Course & Curriculum Synchronization

Managing dozens of specialized technical courses directly in a database was highly inefficient. The content creators needed a clean pipeline to sync comprehensive educational courses and metadata dynamically from git-tracked Markdown sources into Payload CMS without database friction.

Search Discoverability in a Competitive EdTech Space

Ranking for highly competitive German IT and AI keywords required flawless technical SEO. The site needed robust semantic HTML, custom JSON-LD schema generation, optimized static generation structures, and ultra-fast page load times to capture search engine priority.

§04 — APPROACH
To overcome these challenges and ensure enterprise-grade reliability, I designed and configured an end-to-end Kubernetes (K8s) cluster workflow. I structured the containerized environments using Docker and set up automated, highly resilient CI/CD pipelines to guarantee flawless zero-downtime releases. On the application layer, I significantly refactored the Next.js core codebase, standardizing design tokens, improving component reusability, and optimizing page weight. I built out a robust data ingestion pipeline that programmatically parsed local Markdown curriculum assets directly into the Payload CMS via custom sync scripts. Finally, I orchestrated a complete SEO architecture overhaul, refining dynamic metadata injection, structuring localized routing, and generating semantic markup that positioned Kodschul at the top of organic search results for premium IT courses.
